Hello! My name is Catherine Smyka and I’m a writer, activist, and project manager living in Grand Rapids, MI. I’m a Special Projects Manager with The Trevor Project, and spend my days celebrating and affirming LGBTQ youth.
As a writer, I perform non-fiction stories with the national storytelling organization, The Moth; I’m Seattle’s first Moth StorySLAM champion.
As a project manager, I oversee a variety of projects from start to finish, including events, email campaigns, rebranding, fiscal planning, and everything in between.
Before moving to Michigan in 2017, I was the founder of the Seattle-based queer literary magazine T/OUR and a radio essayist with the Chicago NPR station, WBEZ.
I live in Grand Rapids with my greyhound, Stewart, and would love to talk to you about dogs.
